The Diversity Task Force, under the leadership of Kriss Kemp-Graham, examines public schools' zero tolerance for African-American girls, the criminalization of black girls, and the school to prison pipeline.
The “school-to-prison pipeline” refers to the policies and practices that push our nation’s schoolchildren, especially our most at-risk children, out of classrooms and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. This pipeline reflects the prioritization of incarceration over education.
In the buttons below, you will find documents on school discipline, expulsion rates for students of color, and prison rates of African-American women
The purpose of the Diversity Task Force is:
- To diversify the membership of RWE
- To provide a forum at the fall conferences for RWE members and guests to discuss and learn more about gender equity research and policy at the intersection of race, class, and gender.
